Though we are still in the middle of Indian Summer here in Northern California, I can feel change in the air. The air is crisper in the morning and the sun is a little lower in the sky. This has got me thinking about my fall/ winter dress projects. I have pretty much fell in love with dresses over the past...

Erin, a reader in Michigan, sent me some photos of an embroidery project that she inherited from a friend. I bet many of us can relate to receiving a partial embroidery kit from friends or relatives, and not knowing where to find the missing elements. In Erin’s case, she has the fabric stamped with the [...]...
Readers, what a day I had yesterday! First laundry, which involved washing the approximately 40 dirty dog diapers we use weekly instead of wee wee pads for Freddy and Willy. (Don't ask and pass the Lysol.) Then the suit project, the suit project, the suit project! How did we leave it at the end of yesterday's show? Oh, yes: I...
Let's face it: anybody who blogs about a sewing project while the project is underway is asking for trouble. I liken it to a person who walks around their apartment naked with the blinds pulled up: there's no guarantee anybody's watching but chances are pretty good that somebody's got their eyes on you so you'd better pull your stomach in and...
My friend ange and I are stash busting, both patterns and fabric. This is to be my first project - I hope to finish it in the next week and put up pictures but I am undecided about somethings and wondered if I could get your opinion. 1. Today I am 'sick as a dog'! It's just a head cold but it has knocked me flat on my back. So I am home sick today and maybe tomorrow too if I don't improve...
This is the latest joint project between my mom and me. She made the bag itself, I did the cross-stitch and appliqued it on. This was for my grandmother’s birthday (a milestone one), and actually my mom made another bag from the same pattern out of a different fabric to give to her as well. [...]...
